Today I’m going to launch my online zazzle shop! This past year I was fortunate enough to have Marques Art Gallery showcase some of my fine art. After the opening reception I received an overwhelmingly positive response from the local Wilkes-Barre Art scene. I had a lot of direct emails addressing how people would love to own some of my political pop art but simply couldn’t afford any luxury purchases in this tight economy. Which I completely understand!

As an artist I’m not trying to make artwork solely for profit. A lot of my work is geared to portray the perspective of the everyday working class individual, who is stuck in a saturated consumerist world. So for me to expect that same individual to buy fine art; in an ever-disappearing middle class would be completely asinine. This is a great example on why I traveled to Occupy Wall Street at Zucotti Park NYC during a freakish October snowstorm; just to give out free digital artwork! (See the previous blog entry it was a tough day.)

I’m already prepared for negative comments on why zazzle? “Isn’t this a cheesy non-designer friendly website?” Yes and no, Yes there are some horrible designs on this site for example Michele Bachmann 2012 T-shirts…puke

But the huge plus of zazzle is the versatility of putting your designs on anything from shoes, t-shirts, stamps, canvas wraps and etc. Where else would I have the chance to put one of my silk screens on an ipad case? Or put a painting on an Iphone 4 case??? Boom Bamm God Dammnnn Zazzle CAN!!! !!

In other words zazzle is just another open community, that gives artists an opportunity to put their designs on anything and not have to go broke by doing it. It’s just plain out fun and I recommend anyone with some design skills to check it out!

See I’m also in the middle class category; where personally I don’t have the over-head to purchase mass amount of large format prints to sell through my website. So I had to find another alternative and zazzle was it.

Another cool thing about zazzle is that I have complete control of what I receive in royalties. So If I really wanted to get all of the profits I can put my royalty percentage at 100% but that would translate to a print being 300 dollars ummm yaaaa no thanks! So I lowered my percentage on every design to 10%; which makes the prices a lot more reasonable for people on a tight budget. Once again I have to repeat, money isn’t my driving factor to create artwork. I hope everyone checks out the store and see the many different options with the artwork!
